Those Mulberry-clad pooches

Mulberry once again took over Claridges Hotel last week for the third day of London Fashion Week. The brand is renowned for its quirky themes, eclectic charm and A-list followers including Kate Moss and Kirsten Dunst and the Spring Summer 2012 collection showcase was no exception.

Creative director Emma Hill was
inspired by her own nostalgia of British beach front trips, seaside treats and carousal animals and so Claridges Ballroom was decked out with candy striped huts, vintage ice-cream vans and pinball machines. Pink lemonade, Mulberry ripple ice-cream and inflatable animal balloons branded with the Mulberry logo were provided to the fashionistas in order to continue to evoke beach-side feelings. Oh, and the Mulberry-clad pooches were back too.

Our British brand had A-list stars such as Kate Moss and Kristen Stewart flocking to see the bold silhouettes, luxe detailing and signature prints of the Mulberry frocks, jackets and bags.

The brand hadn’t forgotten those rainy beach days either and several of the models stormed down the catwalk wearing raincoats. Other models were dressed more optimistically in lollipop dresses which had the distinct look of those retro ice lollies, Zaps. Anyone remember them?

It seems like the block colours, especially those Spring yellows, mint greens and neon pinks, ankle socks and of course the classic Mulberry bag, including the updated Alexa, will be the attire to find ourselves in possession of next year. Oh, and the Mulberry-clad pooch.
