NOT JUST A CELEB C-CRET

Staff Writer
Pamela Anderson, ageing rocker Keith Richards and a member of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Not to mention the late Anita Roddick, founder of the BodyShop. What could they possibly have had in common?

The answer is a nasty virus, which does not just affect celebrities.

In fact thousands have it - and about 50 per cent do not know they are infected. The virus attacks the liver with predictable consequences.

Like so many of these things,  Hepatitis C is passed on by contaminated blood and also through sex with a partner who may be unprotected and may not have a clue they're infected.

So now a British charity the Hepatitis C Trust is calling for testing to be available in pharmacies. There are drugs to treat you if you are infected - plus all that advice about keeping others safe.

Sounds like a good idea to me.
