MULBERRY ROUND THRILLS

Stacey Collins
Mulberry, a quintessential, iconic British brand well known for its ‘lifestyle’ look, the gorgeous bags (including the widely renowned Alexa Satchel), and its elegant but unpretentious approach to the representation of their clothing.

The exclusive Soho House in New York became the setting for a Secret Garden themed Mulberry Fashion show on September 14th as many stars flocked to get a glimpse at the stars of the Spring/Summer 2011 collection.
Alexa Chung, Kelly Osbourne, and Gemma Arterton were just some of the celebrity guests that got to celebrate Mulberry’s collection as New York Fashion Week drew to a close.

Giant lily pads and English pink roses adorned the Soho rooftop to highlight this season’s floral theme and the recurring British feel to the show was enforced by the servings of fish and chips and chocolate and Guiness cupcakes. Florence Welch, from Florence and the Machine, not only provided the evening with a live acoustic performance but also inspiration for the catwalk models red-wigged, full-fringe hair style.

The real stars of the Mulberry show however, were the decorated dogs, heavily branded in Mulberry macs which paraded the catwalk with the models. Perhaps more apt if it were renamed ‘the dogwalk’, the line-up for the New York show involved 36 looks including floral designs (enhanced by the surrounding Frances Hodgson Burnett's inspired garden theme), belted dresses and shades of apricot, blue and purple.

So not only did the high-fashion Mulberry show achieve a successful night amongst the guests and fashion critics alike, but also provided red-heads with positive attention from the media and will keep a lot of canines dry and warm this winter.
